Elevatorcopy

Editors: Nell May & Taarati Taiaroa

Launch: May 2012

Elevatorcopy.org is a meeting point and resource for research, projects and publishing. It will function as an adaptable index, constantly developing as an extensive archive and incorporating multiple projects. With the editors, Taarati Taiaroa and Nell May based in Auckland and Berlin respectively, the hope for Elevatorcopy is that it will foster international working relationships and collaborations, and operate as a venue for projects that are generally less suited to a typical gallery environment.

The format of Elevatorcopy is particularly ideal for research, site specific and event based practices. It will provide a space for testing approaches to the documentation of the larger scope of projects; and, where applicable, allow a separate area for the recording of research and process in practice. A diverse range of projects, both expansive and concise, is anticipated.

Both current and archived projects featured at Elevatorcopy will be structured into two streams – 'ongoing' and 'completed'. The ‘ongoing’ format allows for projects to start with no pre-determined resolution; for instance, the online publishing of an interview may lead to a string of conversations, or interim outputs. Once a project is discontinued or establishes a ‘final outcome’ it will be archived, with its research backlog accessible. Some projects will debut as ‘completed’.

Another purpose of Elevatorcopy is to provide a venue for online and downloadable publishing; and to facilitate the occasional utilisation of connected pop-up spaces.

The editors are currently interested in hearing about projects or ideas that may be suitable for Elevatorcopy.org
